One Different Choice

In my coaching and in my life, I often hear people say “one day when…” When we make it through just this one thing or week or season or event, then, then we’ll work on our dreams. We tell ourselves that we’ll take action when we feel ready—when we have more time, more energy, or more clarity.

What if waiting for the perfect conditions is the very thing keeping us stuck?

It’s easy to believe that we need to be at our best to make meaningful changes. But the truth is, progress happens in the messy middle—when we’re tired, when we’re unsure, when we don’t have it all figured out.

It’s tempting to believe that our future, more put-together selves will be the ones to take action. That tomorrow’s version of you will be more disciplined, more courageous, more ready. But what if today’s version of you is already enough?

What if you could build momentum even when you feel uncertain? What if you didn’t have to wait to feel like the kind of person who takes action—you just had to start acting like them?

We assume struggles mean we’re doing something wrong. That if we’re finding it hard, maybe we’re not cut out for it. But what if struggles aren’t signs to stop but proof that we’re growing?

Think about it: Every time you’ve learned something new, built a habit, or created change in your life, you’ve probably faced resistance. That’s not failure—it’s friction. And friction means you’re in motion.

You don’t have to solve everything today. You don’t have to be perfect, fearless, or fully confident. You just have to take the next right step. And then another. And then another. We underestimate the ripple effect of a single decision. Choosing to reach out instead of staying isolated. Choosing to pause instead of reacting. Choosing to step forward instead of staying stuck.

Say yes to something you’d normally avoid. Say no to something that drains you. Take one small action that aligns with the life you want. Big, sweeping changes are overwhelming. But a single, intentional choice? You can do that. What if the life you want is just one different choice away?

The life you want isn’t waiting for you to become perfect—it’s waiting for you to begin.

Not next month. Not when life slows down. Not when you feel more ready.

Right now.

Because one different choice—one shift in direction—can be the beginning of everything.
