Emotional Wealth

We often think of wealth in material terms—money, possessions, assets. There’s also wealth in terms of time: the freedom to do what you want, when you want. But there’s another form of wealth that is often overlooked: emotional or energetic wealth.

Emotional wealth is the ability to manage emotions, build resilience, and cultivate meaningful relationships, leading to a sense of well-being and inner strength. It's knowing that you can handle any emotion, no matter how uncomfortable. It’s the skill of recognizing your thoughts, choosing what you want to believe, and deciding intentionally how you want to feel.

Energetic wealth is defined as “a state of abundance characterized by vitality, enthusiasm, and active engagement, often reflecting a balance of physical, mental, and emotional resources that contribute to overall well-being and success.”

Building emotional and energetic wealth is similar to building material wealth in that it’s an investment over time. But instead of external resources, you’re growing your internal ones: resilience, emotional regulation, the ability to cultivate deep and meaningful relationships. And with every step, you’re freeing up energy that was once spent in stress, fear, and doubt. Energetic wealth fills your cup and others’. It brings a sense of abundance and psychological richness. People walk away from interactions with you feeling full, energized, and positive.

People can be materially wealthy but emotionally poor. You know the type. The guy who isn’t in touch with his feelings, carries a constant weight of anger and cynicism, and being around him leaves you exhausted. The world may consider him wealthy in terms of money or time, but when it comes to emotional wealth, he is deeply impoverished.

In contrast, you probably know someone who isn’t materially wealthy but is rich in energy. No matter the activity, you always walk away feeling full, happy, and energized after spending time with them. They add connection, support, and energy to your life, creating an upward spiral of positivity.

Emotional  and energetic wealth is built by learning how to feel your emotions. By forgiving yourself and others. By taking responsibility for your life and the direction you want it to go. By having the courage to ask for more and being okay with asking, no matter the outcome. Small deposits, over time, create large, compounding returns.

Coaching isn’t just about working through a specific problem—it’s about making a permanent, net-positive change. It’s about learning how to manage your mind and emotions so that you can feel how you want to feel, regardless of what’s happening around you.

As Scott Mann says, “No one is coming to save you.”  But the good news is, you don’t need saving. You already have everything you need: the potential to improve, the capacity to change, and the power to make decisions that shape your future.

You get to decide.

What will you create with all that emotional and energetic wealth? What becomes possible when you’re no longer held hostage by old patterns and reactive emotions? What will you invest in when you understand that you are not at the mercy of your circumstances, but rather, you have the tools to shape your experience?

The only thing left is to be willing to show up for the hard work.

And belief in better? That’s the first true step.
